A graduate of Wofford College and a native of Truro, Massachusetts, Alex is a former U.S. Army field grade infantry officer who served on active duty for ten years and three years in the U.S. Army Reserve. Alex received his commission while attending Wofford College under the U.S. Army's Early Commissioning Program following his junior year. With multiple assignments in Germany, Alex served with the 1st Armored Division and the 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized). His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB).
Alex started his 20-year career in the transitioning military-to-civilian recruitment and placement profession in 1998 when he joined the prestigious Lucas Group's (now a Korn Ferry company) Military Division in Dallas, TX as a Senior Partner for five years.
In 2004, while serving as a defense contractor with L-3 Communications' MPRI supporting the U.S. Army's Installation Management Command - Europe (IMCOM-Europe), Alex founded a Dallas-based specialized boutique executive search firm, MA3 LLC. The firm recruited and placed graduates of the national service academies who had ten years of corporate experience and possessed top tier MBAs. Clients included Fortune 500 companies representing many industries, emerging growth technology start-ups, and venture capital firms with investments in Europe and the United Arab Emirates. MA3 LLC accepted global search assignments (retained and contingent) in various industries from base salary ranges of $115K to $600K per annum. The firm successfully placed accomplished military leaders across the United States, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates. The firm's Chairman of the Board of Advisors was LTG (USA, Ret.) Don Holder who previously served as the Commanding General of the 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), and later, served as the Commanding General of the U.S. Army's Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Alex previously served as the National Director of Wounded Warrior Project's Warriors to Work ® program where he managed a $10M budget, engaged with Members of Congress to advance nationwide employment solutions for post-9/11 veterans, and led 35 selfless and dedicated teammates in 17 offices who placed over 2,500 Alumni and caregivers in fulltime meaningful careers during his 15-month tenure. These placements yielded an economic impact in excess of $100M. Alex also served as Wounded Warrior Project's Member of the U.S. Department of Labor's Advisory Committee on Veterans Employment, Training, and Employer Outreach (ACVETEO) in Washington, DC.
Alex has previously served as a volunteer for a number of civic and community organizations: the USO at DFW International Airport, Meals on Wheels of Collin County, Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut, and the Essex Land Trust in Essex, Connecticut.
At the invitation of ESPN, Alex served for ten years on ESPN's Executive Council and for six years on the Board of Directors of the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, TX.
Alex and his wife, Barbara, reside in Frisco, TX, where he is a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8273 of Frisco, TX and currently serve as the post's Adjutant. Alex is also a lifetime member of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA).
